ePUB and MOBI
This format is basically what is sent to e-book providers like Kobo and Barnes & Noble. ePUB files can be read by several free apps like Bluefire Reader, Lithium: EPUB Reader, and more--some of which may have come with your device like Apple Books, Google Play Books, and Microsoft Edge. The Kindle app will NOT work with ePUB files, but WILL work with MOBI files. A few free MOBI reader apps are AlReader, MOBI Reader, and FB Reader.
Make sure to only use programs you trust! If you need some app suggestions, check out the linked articles for your device:
For those of you that would rather have a PDF, you can download the book below. Make sure to only use programs you trust! The apps listed above, the Kindle app, and Adobe Acrobat can be used for free to read PDFs.
If you've downloaded the file and the book is not showing up, please be patient. They may take time to download, may be hidden in PDF sections on some apps, or the cover may not immediately load. If your app has the option, you can try to search for the book or filter your library to see your most recent downloads.
Step 1: Go to this webpage on your chosen device (phone, tablet, etc). You can do this by opening the email sent to you on your chosen device.
Step 2: Click the "Download Now" button of your choice. This will open a second tab on your browser. Below the icon and the words "The Hike," you will see two blue links. The top link will say "Open in Books," as that is the default reading app of Apple devices. If that program works for you, click it. The Books app should open and you'll be able to start reading your copy of "The World Came to Us."
If the Books app is not what you want, choose the second option of "More...." This will open a pop-up with your choices listed. Scroll through them until you've found the app you want. Selecting your chosen app should open it on your device and take you right to the book so you can start reading.
**Please note that these instructions were tested on an Apple iPad and iPhone using Bluefire Reader and Books respectively. The same was done with the default Android book app.
Step 1: Go to this webpage on your device (computer, tablet, etc). You can find this link by opening the email sent to you.
Step 2: Click the "Download Now" button. This will open a new tab on your browser that will close automatically. A bar will appear at the bottom of the screen to download the file.
Step 3: When the file has finished downloading, click on it. The default ePUB and PDF reader for Windows is Microsoft Edge. It will open the book in Microsoft Edge and you can begin reading "The Hike."
If you don't want to use Microsoft Edge, then you can open your computer's downloads file to find the book. If you can't easily find it, try using the search bar or sorting your files so that the most recent are at the top. Once you find "The Hike," right-click on the icon to pull up your menu. Find the "Open With..." option and select it. This will bring up a new menu that will display what programs you have that can open an ePUB file. If you have no programs that will work, you can select the "Look for an app in the Microsoft Store" option to find one.
Once you've selected your program, you can click "Done." Your program will automatically open and you can start reading.
**Please note that these instructions were tested on a computer with Windows 10 installed, using Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge for browsers.
